Transwide has reached a major milestone with
now more than 500 transport companies actively using
the Transwide transport execution solutions.
Dublin, Brussels, April 8th 2004, Transwide
announces that more than 350 lead transportation
providers and more than 150 subcontracted transport
companies are now collaborating on the Transwide
network.
The growth in the number of Transport companies
has been the result of new shippers requesting Transwide
to on-board their carrier base. "The aggregate
market share of the 500 transport companies working
on Transwide represent more than 20% of the European
road industry" says Eric van den Bemden, Director
Logistics Partnerships at Transwide. "Transwide
now has transport companies from all major European
countries".
Transwide has also witnessed a surging growth in
the number of transportation companies requesting
to have an integrated access. An integrated access
enables transport companies to receive directly
all transport information in their own IT systems,
avoiding multiple manual entries and the possibilities
of making errors. On average, transport companies
start to measure the tangible benefits of an integrated
access when they have more than 1,500 transport
orders per year. This represents a trailing average
of about 20 to 25% of the companies receiving transport
orders via Transwide's collaborative hub.
In addition, transport companies who have on board
computers and have an integrated access can share
data from their on board computers in real time
with their client shippers. This is viewed as a
major step forward by transportation companies who
can now not only use their on board computers for
their own internal needs but also to provide immediate
pro-active transport visibility to their customers.
Transport companies increasingly view Transwide
as an important operational tool and are asking
Transwide to disclose their name to shippers. Therefore
Transwide has decided to publish the lists of the
lead transport companies who are actively working
on the transwide systems. A full list can be obtained
