Kimberly-Clark selects Transwide as Transport Execution solution provider.

Dublin, Zaventem and Brighton - 30.06.05 - Kimberly Clark announce today that it has selected Transwide as its Transportation Execution solution provider. Transwide is the leading Transportation Hub enabling companies to better collaborate before, during and after transport.

Since May 2002 Kimberly-Clark centralised in Brighton its European transportation management in a Shared Service Centre. All contractual transportation companies used to be informed of available loading slots when transport was assigned to them by Brighton. An overview of the loading times was then communicated from Brighton to all loading sites around Europe. This centralisation was implemented to reduce work load in the different local sites and to have a more accurate and centralised overview of outgoing flows.

Thanks to Transwide, Kimberly-Clark is now taking the benefits from centralisation to the next level. With twSlot, the Transwide time slot booking solution, transportation companies don't need to call any longer. They just book available loading slots via the internet. The benefits are less work in Brighton and more flexibility for transport companies to book their loading time slots.

The pan European roll out of the solution has now started. All sites in the United Kingdom are now in full production with 34 contractual transportation providers. The roll-out in the United Kingdom has been completed in 6 weeks. Sites in Germany and France will follow shortly with the aim to have all Kimberly Clark European sites using twSlot by the end of 2005 with all 120 transportation providers.

Katie Whitley, Project Development Manager from Kimberly-Clark mentioned that "Local sites are now informed well in advance of what is to be loaded on the following day or even further ahead. With twSlot, the team in Brighton, the local sites and the transportation companies have one common collaboration tool. Loadings are better spread during the day and staffing at local sites can be adjusted on a regular basis depending on actual bookings. Contractual transportation providers are also keen supporters of our new solution as they have now more flexibility to book time slots".

Thibaut de le Court, Project Manager at Transwide: "Kimberly-Clark has been very successful with its centralisation initiative. And with Transwide, Kimberly-Clark is able to have a centralised and decentralised overview of planning versus actual loading activities. Transportation entry time and exit times are captured and shared with Brighton, the local sites and the transportation companies. All parties can work together in identifying and solving potential operational bottlenecks."
